Email Security uses a blend of best breed spam filters which leads to maximum levels of spam emails being blocked and minimum amount of false-positive identifications. As with their Web Security SaaS, the best-of-breed signature based anti-virus engines provide protection with both heuristic and zero-hour filters. These take on the threat of the new viruses that appear everyday, whilst the other filters take care of the pre-existing viral threats, to ensure that you are 100% protected from all known viruses. Also, Webroot also recognizes that mails containing inappropriate and sometimes disturbing images are not usually caught by most filters. Taking this in to account, Webroot has included a specific image filter to address image analysis. Email Security also protects against DDoS attacks. Distributed Denial of Service attack on mail servers are becoming quite common, and are aimed at brining down a company’s email communications. With all email routed through Webroot, a system hosted off-site, the attacks never actually take place thus the company network remains unharmed.

Email Management Suite Email Security’s management suite allows for highly sensitive levels of control over inbound and outbound traffic. It also offers a powerful rules engine which is fully customizable and easy to use, and provides content and event based email management. Filtering can be set by administrators and have reports made based on several criteria, including the following: - Email traffic control, inbound and outbound
- Enforcement of user policies
- Groups, email size, destination, attachments
- Customized reports can be created and scheduled as needed, and are based upon data gathered on an hourly basis.
Web Control Panel Webroot allows access to this service via a web-based management console, which give administrators a large amount of flexibility when monitoring email traffic. The management dashboard displays real-time summaries of any activity within the last 28 days, as well as displaying all notifications. Under the Logs panel, an administrator can view all incoming mail, review records of the mail let through the filters and those that didn’t, according to specific category as to why not, i.e. Spam, Virus, Image scanning. The Control Panel also allows for new users to be added and given access rights, as well as allowing rules to be created and reports generated. Archiving Webroot offer a real-time archiving solution for their Email Security solution. Mail is stored in duplicate at another geographically centered location, so as not to risk any loss. All email, inbound, outbound and internal, is captured in real time before being stored. This is exceptionally useful if a crisis occurs and a problem with the email server arises, as all records are kept at a geographically separate location, there is no risk of loss, therefore any secure or important communications can be retrieved. Business Continuity The Business Continuity feature of Webroot's Email Security SaaS ensures that whatever the disaster, you can keep on sending and receiving emails via the Webroot webmail. Unlike most BC solutions, Webroot's is an on tap feature that ensures yuor emails are sent and delivered, as well as kept safe on another mirrored site. This means that full re-synchronisation is available once your email server is back up and running, as all inbound and outbound emails will have been duplicated and stored for your convenience.
