This company is one of the biggest independent vegetable growers and packers in the UK.

As part of a review of the company’s network infrastructure, the company requested that Presence should carry out an audit of their network security and make recommendations about improvements that were needed.

The findings were that the infrastructure had only rudimentary protection with a number of vulnerabilities that needed to be addressed. Based on this report and further discussions with the company, Presence designed a security scheme that provided a solution to each of the shortcomings. The network is protected by a combination of hardware and software products that include a Sonicwall firewall appliance, MAILsweeper and WEBsweeper content security systems and the Sophos anti-virus service.

Presence provides remote technical support for the firewall and content security products.

The outcome is that the management of the company is confident it has an IT infrastructure that protects the organisation, and by extension its customers, from potential damage from network intrusion and email-borne threats while at the same time preventing misuse of company resources and exercising its duty of care in protecting its staff from obscene or discriminatory material.
